The SGML Users Group Of Ireland are delighted to announce:-
"XML and the future of the World Wide Web" (provisional title)
   Presented by
      Jon Bosak
      Sun Microsystems USA
Wednesday April 30 from 2:30 to 5 pm
Maxwell Theatre
Hamilton Building
Westland Row
Trinity College Dublin
Fresh from XML's official debut at the sixth World Wide Web Conference in
California, Jon Bosak
will give a talk on XML - eXtensible Markup Language - a simple subset of
SGML specifically designed
for use on the Web. XML is a formally defined, easily understood subset of
SGML easily processed by
languages such as Java, Python, Perl etc.
Despite its short gestation period, XML is already the foundantion stone of
a number of exciting web applications in areas such as "Push Publishing",
On-line banking,
and Language Translation. Companies currently using/examining XML include
Microsoft, Netscape and Sun Microsystems.
