A chapter/SIG can choose to become a member (either affiliate or subsidiary) or remain independent. Chapter members pay an annual fee to the ISUG based on membership bans. Each individual or corporate member of such a chapter is considered a member of the ISUG and enjoys all of the benefits of memberhip. An officer of the Chapter Member becomes an ex officio member of the Executive Council. See Information on Chapter Membership for further details.
Independent chapters do not pay a fee to the ISUG, with the exception that one of the officers must take a direct membership. That officer receives the benefits of ISUG membership and becomes an ex officio member of the Executive Council. Any other member of an independent chapter may also directly join the ISUG, but does so at a typically higher rate than a member of a Chapter Member.
