New Products

Latitude

Latitude enables users to access their documents, spreadsheets, graphics, photos and multi-media without reprocessing them or knowing where they are located. It provides access to information that is buried in documents that are strewn across multiple server and format types. It works with most languages, including Japanese and Arabic.

Latitude uses Open Text 5; it can automatically index every word in every document in just about any native format (over 40 formats are supported including Word, Excel, WordPerfect, Lotus, SGML, and HTML). Open Text 5 has been used to index every word in the entire World Wide Web of the Internet. With more than 4 million and over 2 billion words, the Web is one of the worlds' largest dynamic databases. Latitude also has ROUTER technology, enabling searches simultaneously on mixed file formats across multiple servers located on CD-ROMs, hard drives, LANs and WANs (including the Internet). This job is done automatically and transparently.

The viewer system automatically detects the type of format that the information is in and launches the best viewer to present the information (WYSIWYG viewer, SGML viewer, CAD viewer, MOSAIC viewer and multi-media viewer). Custom viewers may be added.

Latitude is scaleable and can therefore be extended or configured to meet a user's specific needs.

Open Text Index

Free to the internet user, Open Text Index is an Index to the World Wide Web. A "web crawler" is continuously visiting every home, nook, and cranny on the Web, noting every word used - adding the new document, and updating the index as they change. Web browsers can be used to visit the Open Text Index "home page" - http://www.opentext.com

Latitude Web Server

The Latitude Web Server is the power behind the Open Text Index, Yahoo!, and IBM's infoMarket Search Service. The Latitude Web Server gives users everything needed to make information available over a web, including powerful full text indexing that can find the needle in the data stack, search HTML, SGML, PDF, CAD and more than 40 common word processing and spreadsheet formats.

The Latitude Web Server also includes intelligent crawlers that prowl any set of linked data looking for new or updated information.
