of their new products.

Synex ViewPort
Synex ViewPort is an SGML/HyTime Browser engine that
is capable of reading SGML directly from any source. Synex ViewPort
is able to retrieve documents or document fragments from any source:
from a file, from a RAM address, or through a custom procedure
that delivers the contents piecemeal. The combined properties
make it possible to view dynamically assembled information when
it is needed, from wherever it resides. ViewPort handles browsing
ranging from straightforward SGML documents to more complex documents
such as interactive multimedia training applications or Interactive
Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).
Summary of key features:
- a cross-platform API: ViewPort runs on Windows,
UNIX/motif, and Macintosh. Its rich 200+ set of functions lets
users control all aspects of presentation and content retrieval,
complemented by over three dozen call-backs to tailor application
behaviour
- an SGML parser optimized for the demanding speed
requirements of dynamic, direct on-line viewing, and with support
for storage and reading of pre-parsed documents
- in-line, seamless presentation capabilities for
other media (such as video) to support interactive, standards-based
multimedia documents
- extensive built-in support for hyperlinks, activated
immediately from the SGML markup
- comprehensive support for graphics, viewed in-line
or in separate windows
- support for launching of external applications
- dynamic table of contents
- support for multiple overlays of end-user annotations,
bookmarks, graphic hot spots, and links
- display and printing of SGML documents using
a variety of styles
