XSoft, A Division of Xerox is a Software Producer. Their new product is 'Astoria' which was released on 15th December 1995. The new product was previewed in Booth 27.
Astoria is a powerful Document Component Management System. Authors are able to create components once and store them for reuse. They are then able to retrieve stored components quickly, when the demand arises. It allows the author to have a greater control and a detailed audit of document changes.
Astoria is a document component management technology that builds on the value of SGML with supplemental capabilities such as version control, revision tracking, and information reuse. It also features a search engine for finding information in structured documents.
Astoria consists of a document management engine and a set of application tools that allows users to access the engine. The object-oriented framework of Astoria manages documents at the component level. A component is a logical unit such as a chapter, paragraph, title, graphic, or even a part number. Using Astoria, authors can create components once and store them for reuse. This enables authors to deliver new types of documents and to update reused information in a given component once. It also allows user to create links between document components, so that information can be tracked between different documents.
