SP is a completely new, next-generation SGML parser. The current version is 1.0.1, released 25th October 1995. Version 1.0 is the first production release. 1.0.1 fixes a stupid bug, which caused applications to core dump when called without any arguments. (If you already have 1.0, you can use this "ftp://ftp.jclark.com/pub/sp/sp-1.0-1.0.1.diff" to update to 1.0.1.)

Information on new tools are also available on the SGML Open Web Site.
The purpose of this web site is not to assess conformance, but to provide the prerequisite information about a product's claimed SGML support -- its "SGML purity" -- the first step in the evaluation of any SGML product.
The SGML Purity Test is not a conformance test. You are rating what a product claims and attempts to do -- not how well it succeeds.
The SGML Web Page lives at http://www.sil.org/sgml/sgml.html, and plans are being made for it to be mirrored by SoftQuad's WWW server. The SGML Web Page should prove helpful for researchers who need a basic orientation to SGML, especially with respect to resources freely available on the Internet. The SGML Web Page also includes an annotated and linked bibliography for SGML, with over 1000 [now: 1500] entries.
