SGML Open sponsor members recently completed a ballot on their Technical Resolution 9601:1996 Fragment Interchange. Quoting from the Scope statement of the draft resolution:
'This resolution enables interchanging portions of SGML documents while retaining the ability to parse them correctly (that is, as they would be parsed in their originating document context), and, as far as practical, to be formatted, edited, and otherwise processed in useful ways.'
The resolution is currently being edited to resolve all comments. It is hoped that the final text of TR9601 will be ready for general distribution before SGML '96 in Boston in the third week of November.
