In 1996, we published four issues of the ISUG Newsletter as planned. To date this year, we have published Volume 3, issues 1 and 2. Based on a proposal by Richard Light, our Treasurer, we have revamped much of the Newsletter. The look and feel has changed from a pulp publication to a slick one, in two colors, prepared by a new Production Editor, Marilyn Chick. We have also named a new editor, Eamonn Neylon, who will be bringing a new level of professionalism to the Newsletter. He will be commissioning contributions to the Newsletter, with each issue focused on a main theme. The July newsletter will be taking up XML as its main topic.
Eamonn summarizes plans for the newsletter as:
We have not seen as many contributions from Chapters over the last year and hope that you will remember to send us your local Chapter news at more regular intervals in the future. Many thanks to those who have submitted information regarding the work of their Chapter or SIG over the past year.
This year has seen a number of new publications on SGML. We have continued to work with publishers in order to provide books at a discount to our members. The list of the latest books available through our bookstore are included with the ISUG Newsletter and are also available on the ISUG Website.
Please mail ISUG news to Eamonn, Kirsten, or Pamela at isug@dpsl.co.uk. We greatly appreciate receiving electronic versions of the data as this speeds up the production process considerably.
Contact Robin Cover with corrections and updates, or to submit contributions to the ISUG online document database.
