SoftQuad have announced Panorama CDWeb Publisher, a web/CD hybrid publishing tool that allows SGML content to be published directly to CD-ROM and subsequently updated via the web. The Panorama CDWeb Publisher incorporates technology licensed from Banta Integrated Media to allow searching of indexes for both the CD and the website. Banta's Vivace CDWeb Composer is a content publishing tool that allows companies to transparently augment large volumes of information on CD-ROMs via the Web. This is an interesting step in the move towards a use of text retrieval that will see the true potential of SGML realised.
