The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Working Group has released XML 1.0 as a Proposed Recommendation. At the next stage in the development of this standard, the W3C Member organizations will vote on whether it will become an 'official' W3C Recommendation. XML will become an official specifications if the members of W3C formally approve the proposed recommendation. The XML 1.0 specification has been produced as part of the W3C XML Activity, and is available at http://www.w3.org/TR/PR-xml-971208.
