MathML proposes one top-level tag, math which encapsulates each instance of MathML markup in an HTML document.
Specific attributes are required for the interface between the browser and a MathML processor. These are attributes of the interface element used to embed the MathML in an HTML page. Ideally, this would be the same mathelement above. MathML is among the motivating examples for the W3C group defining this mechanism.
